CIA’s Star-Spangled Cookout

Food and Fun on July 4!

Author Tina M. Cortez ’26 is a Food Business Management major.

CIA has a summer semester which might come as a surprise, but summer at CIA is so much fun! We have so many exciting activities and events that make every summer semester great. Most recently, students, family, and staff celebrated the Fourth of July with a BANG!

The first thing to note was that everyone was able to get free food. This included hamburgers, hot dogs, macaroni salad, potato salad, watermelon, chips, ice cream, and a variety of beverages. It was all delicious!

Next and personally my favorite part was all the games. But they were not just basic games, most of them were inflatable bouncy house types of games. There was a version of the hungry, hungry hippo game, an inflatable axe throwing game—don’t worry no sharp objects were flying around—and an inflatable jousting arena. I had so much fun with my friends. There were also fun games like cornhole and gaga ball.

So, if you’re new to CIA and the thought of school in the summer sounds not so fun, don’t worry. Everyone, whether it be the school, clubs, and even your friends make the summer semester feel fun and enjoyable, it’ll fly by!
