Root, Root, Root, for the Yankees!

CIA Students Take on Yankee Stadium

Author Annie B. Milostan ’25 is a Baking and Pastry Arts major.

Once a month every semester, CIA sells tickets for trips off campus. September’s event was the last New York Yankees home game of the season. On Sunday, September 30, 55 students loaded onto the bus and headed to the stadium. In two short hours we arrived, we still had about 90 minutes before the game, so we indulged in traditional game day food fare—hotdogs, cheeseburgers, chicken fingers, fries, and a fountain drink.

Our game was delayed by rain for a little over an hour, but we wanted to stay because we were so excited to see the Yankees and the Pirates play. We had the best time, doing all of the chants, dances, and trying to catch foul balls. It was also a chance to meet new friends we hadn’t had the chance to meet yet on campus. Once the game started the Yankees were on fire, in the first inning the Yankees hit a home run with one player already on second base, leading the game off to a strong start 2-0 over the Pirates. The Pirates quickly caught up, but the Yankees kept fighting. In the bottom of the ninth the Yankees scored two runs leading them to win their last home game of the season. After the game we loaded onto the bus and headed back to school.
